What is My Hiring Hall?

A labor market for logistics professionals who expect employment protections and benefits but also control over their hours and work. Starting around the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, we are a network of logistics companies committed to AB5 compliance but knowing many of the best workers in our industry value their independence and control.

 

My Hiring Hall is our platform matching your availability for work - today, tomorrow, or weeks ahead - with partner companies who need moves. They can use My Hiring Hall to grow a pool of drivers who they use regularly.

 

 

How does it work?

• We check your credentials and experience and approve digital badges that determine the types of work you can do and the companies you want to work with.

• You tell the platform the hours you are available for work, that can be very short notice or you can have a regular pattern every week.

• You can also set rules around the minimum period of notice you need for each move, how far you will travel, or a minimum shift length. You can accept fixed pay rates from partner companies or, where a client is willing, set your rules for constructing hourly pay based on location, period of notice, length of shift, or day of the week.

• We promote you to partner companies who can see your availability and book you for moves subject to your agreement.

• Every move has a timesheet, once that is approved you get paid the following week.

Why us?

Waterfront Logistics, part of the A1 group of companies, operates My Hiring Hall for the industry. Embeded in the Port of Los Angeles and surrounding areas, we have extensive relationships with unions, port authorities, and local governments. Many of them are contributing to planning for My Hiring Hall's launch and expansion looking at issues like additional training and certification.

 

We are an AB5 compliant operator already working with owner operators or CDL(A) drivers keen to work through W-2 contracts. Currently we are inviting truckers in our networks to be part of early activity on My Hiring Hall. But later in 2025, we will be widening registration to new drivers or owner operators, other roles in logistics and other regions.
